About the Artist
Gia Horton (formerly Schifano) is a self-taught artist. Her love for Long Island and its beauty from coast to coast is what inspires her. Her sense of composition and realistic style bring to the viewer a sense of peace and beauty in nature.
Her love of art began at an early age and was her main focus during her childhood and adolescent years winning awards in elementary and high school, honors that now have followed her as an adult. Though life has brought her down many different paths she never put down a pencil or brush always driven to create. Even now after the day is done you can find her in her studio painting away or planning her next project.

Gia has worked in the world of art retail for Adam Art Center as a sales associate and manager for their Manhasset store. She then moved on to be the resident artist for Il Fiore Designs of Great Neck where she designed and painted images onto high end linen accessory pillows for such boutiques and stores as Ethan Allen, Bergdorf-Goodman, and did licensing work through the company for Lynn Chase.
Gia is a 10 time cover artist for the Long Island East End publication Dan's Papers and was the recipient of the Best of the Best Cover Award for 2011. Her talent continues to be recognized through the awards and acceptances she received through the various juried shows she attends.
Over the years she has worked in charcoal, colored pencil, and acrylic but her latest love is water-mixable oils which give her the best of both worlds and lends themselves beautifully to the techniques used for her landscapes and portrait work.
Work is sold as originals (when available) and prints. Commissions are always welcome.
